Entry-Level Driver

Job Description of Entry-Level Driver:

Elevate your driving competency and obtain comprehensive proficiency to handle a truck-trailer unit with ease. Besides driving, your job description will also encompass non-driving activities such as operating a forklift and overseeing the dock section.

Responsibilities of Entry-Level Driver:

• Perform pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer
• Verify documentation matches freight description (e.g. type, weight, hazardous materials), using current electronic or manual system
• Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies (e.g. pallets, straps, rope)
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
• Perform other duties as required

Qualification of Entry-Level Driver:

• Job classification requires possession of a commercial learning permit (CLP) or a class A commercial driver's license (CDL) to get started.
• One of the essential conditions for employment is to have an MVR that is in line with the job's requirements.
• The regulatory requirements specified by DOT in section 391 under FMC guidelines must be met by all transportation organizations
• Possesses the ability to count and complete simple mathematical operations, with or without the aid of technology
• Possessing the physical aptitude to lift hand-carrying goods of diverse weights on a weekly basis, remove dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and open trailer doors needing 75 pounds of force, several times per day
• This job mandates the capability to sit for extended time periods, flex, pivot, kneel, and ingress and egress the truck
• To progress in a career, one must possess the skill to follow directions and undertake mandated training courses
• The proficiency in working autonomously and collaborating with a team to accomplish goals is a valuable skill that organizations look for in their employees

Work Condition of Entry-Level Driver:

The risk of exposure to hazardous materials is high, especially with dangerous goods that comply with the requirements laid out by DOT.
