Responsibilities:

- Preventive maintenance (PM) and vehicle repair duties cover a variety of tasks and obligations:
- Conduct system operations for the A/C and heater to evaluate their functioning and identify any cooling irregularities within a preventive maintenance framework. Inspect essential elements like the compressor's power connection, visually scrutinize the condenser, ensure appropriate belt tension, and execute other system verifications. Discover and resolve the presence of Freon and oil leaks jeopardizing the system's operational integrity
- Recognition of the components within an air brake system is vital; the brakes need to be operated correctly with any unusual noises or air leaks being identified promptly; conducting simple tests on the air system is necessary; measuring the thickness of linings must be done accurately; adjusting the brakes is a crucial part of maintenance; performing the air brake sections during preventative maintenance is mandatory; precise measurements of drums, rotors, and cam bushings are required; brake repairs can be carried out following the guidelines of (BA298) once properly trained and deemed qualified
- Brakes-Hydraulic: Road test for proper operation; Make visual inspections for leaks; Check park brake operation; Check fluid level; Measure lining thickness; Adjust service brakes; Perform brake repairs per (BH298) once trained and qualified; Adjust park brakes
- Top up fluids as necessary to reach the appropriate capacity
- Charging Systems (electrical): Visually inspect batteries; Clean connections; Check condition of belts; Test batteries; Check alternator mounting and pulley; Replace and adjust belts; Perform basic charging system check
- Apply lubrication to the throw-out bearing, linkage, shafts, and cables involved in the clutch assembly; Understand the correct procedure for operating the clutch and the clutch brake
- Coolant Level Verification: Confirm and adjust the amount of coolant in the system; visually inspect for any leaks within the cooling system; conduct minor maintenance tasks including hose replacements, fan shroud adjustments, or fixing leaking fittings; identify specific requirements of permanent antifreezes; employ tools such as refractometers and pressure testers for evaluation; carry out the process of flushing and replenishing the system
- Installing new batteries is a recommended procedure in the upkeep of the Cranking System within the electrical domain
- Troubleshooting minor wiring glitches in the lighting setup and carrying out the necessary repairs is part of our expertise
- Inspect the housings of the drive axles, looking out for leaks, as part of the maintenance routine, and be prepared to change oil and filter, while also maintaining clean breathers
- Check the driveline for wear and damage and apply lubrication to maintain its functionality
- Monitor and adjust the oil levels of all engines, particularly gas engines, to ensure smooth operation. Be on the lookout for abnormal noises or oil seepages during the inspection process
- Replace and prime the fuel filter, as well as examine fuel system components to maintain their integrity and condition
- Performing critical procedures like inspecting and adjusting the shift selector cable, conducting pop tests on Isuzu injectors, and adhering to PM298 guidelines with additional C supplements enhance the vehicle's reliability and performance over time
- Tasks involve lubricating the grease fittings, reviewing and correcting the fluid levels, and ensuring proper toe alignment. Assess all steering components for wear and make adjustments as needed. Evaluate and correct the alignment of the trailer axle and adjust the wheel bearings, including installing a new wheel seal if required
- Suspension-Chassis and Cab: Identify makes and models; Identify normal operation; Identify and repair minor air leaks; Identify malfunctions of basic nature, broken springs, excessive wear on bushings, etc
- Carry out routine tire preventive maintenance inspections to uphold their longevity and performance
- Ensure proper lubrication of the fifth wheel plate and slider mechanism on the Vehicle Coupling System (PM), then engage the slider mechanism as part of the maintenance routine
- Employ the main capabilities present in the Shop Management System and electronic files at your disposal. Carry out duties in compliance with the safety directives, Department of Transportation (DOT) standards, and corporate policies mandated by federal/provincial authorities. Consult both internal and external maintenance documentation for necessary reference
- Completes other assignments as designated.
- Ensure the proper maintenance of service, safety, and environmental records to meet or surpass requirements set by corporate and government authorities.
- Responsible for upholding key maintenance metrics established by company protocols that pertain to the scrutiny and execution of preventive maintenance checks, brakes, tires, wheels, and various maintenance tasks directly impacting customer safety.
